We had a successful public reading of our brand new Livepod: Visions of Vancouver scripts on Thursday afternoon at the Museum of Vancouver. Thanks to all the folks who came out to hear the plays, the writers who wrote them and the fine actors (Sarah Afful, Shaker Paleja, Richard Newman, Luc Roderique and Kyra Zagorsky) who brought them to life. It was a great launch. Thank you Museum of Vancouver.
We’re now looking forward to our next workshop in September and the Livepod: Visions of Vancouver opening night on October 6th at CBC Studio 700 in downtown Vancouver.
The world’s largest performance design event, The Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, finished up on Sunday, June 26th, 2011. During its eleven day run over 40,000 visitors enjoyed exhibitions, installations, lectures and performances at the Veletržní Palace - National Gallery, Prague Crossroads, Piazzetta of the National Theatre and other places around town.
It was a great experience, strongly attended by students and emerging artists as well as more established practitioners. I came away thinking that if these people are the future of theatre, the art form is alive and well.
With the PQ happening only every four years, now is the time to start planning your own trip in 2015. It’s a great way to enter the life of the city.
The top photo shows the welcoming speech outside the National Gallery on day one. The picture below is of a party in the evening at the National Theatre. Theatre people who still smoke inside theatre buildings? Wow!
