Carmen Hung

Carmen is Pi Theatre’s Lighting Designer for HIVE 3, and she is an emerging artist participating in our Prime Placements program.

Born in Hong Kong, Carmen has been a frequent collaborator in theatre and media productions in Hong Kong and the Lower Mainland. Performing at the age of 10, she was fascinated by the production and design aspects of theatre, which eventually grew into a devotion to stage lighting. Upon arriving in Canada to pursue a degree in Communication in 2005, Carmen has been collaborating with both local and international artists. Recent credits include t2 at the Scotiabank Dance Centre, IGNITE X Young Playwrights Festival at the Cultch, There Came a Gypsy Riding at United Players, The Odd Couple at the Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre and Antigone at the Fringe Festival. Carmen is also a media artist, editor and graphic designer. Having a strong passion in art, visual culture and technology, Carmen curated the public art installation “Surveilling Public Space: Perspectives on Spectacle” at the Interurban Gallery in November 2009.
