Jo Ledingham’s review of John & Beatrice came out in today’s Courier.

Ledingham had lots of praise for our original production of this show, so it’s interesting to see her compare the two versions.

“John & Beatrice is back, but what a difference…Vincent Gale is still John, but Beatrice, previously played by Karen Rae, is now portrayed by Patricia Drake.  [Director Del] Surjik said he started afresh, the quality of these two fine actors being so dissimilar. A 21st-century fairytale is how it seemed in 2007; a year-and-a-half later, John & Beatrice is a darker, sadder tale. And because it’s sadder, the glimmer of hope that finally breaks through at the end is that much sweeter. Two different plays. Both wonderful.”
