A soldier loyal to his country encounters three witches on the battlefield that tell him he will be king.  Now, Macbeth and his partner in crime, lady Macbeth, are on a bloody path to ambition, power, and betrayal.  From Montreal’s La Fille du Laitier, Macbeth Muet completely deconstructs this Shakespeare Tragedy into a fast-paced, visceral theatre experience, using the body, object manipulation, and a ton of fake blood.

Entire scenes are reduced to a single look as Shakespeare’s complex and beautiful poetry is rendered mute, and searing.  And through it all, a couple is transformed forever.  Macbeth Muet presents a world so devoid of morality that human lives become as disposable as styrofoam cups.  And the excess, the blood, the scraps and the waste, will all be left behind for future kings.

ABOUT LA FILLE DU LAITIER
Founded in the spring of 2015 by three National Theatre school graduates – Caroline Bélanger, Marie Hélène Bélanger Dumas, and Jon Lachlan Stewart – La Fille du Laitier is a theatre delivery service, bringing creative and innovative theatre to your doorstep.  Using a portable theatre scene attached to a delivery truck, we travel around the small communities in the City of Montreal, with the aim of democratising art, creating a theatre that is affordable and accessible to those who may not normally get the chance to experience it.  Our mandate is to produce family-friendly new texts or adaptations of classics, for the outdoor stage, and for English and French audiences alike.  La Fille du Laitier believes in the democracy of art, the right to madness, and the freedom of imagination.  www.lafilledulaitier.com

No, all you need is the link.

Do I need to buy an app to watch Macbeth Muet? 

No. The platform is Bigmarker. All you need is an internet browser. We recommend Google Chrome.

CanI watch Macbeth Muet on my phone? 

Yes.

What if I’m late?

Just like any live performance, you could miss parts of the show if you join in late. Unfortunately, there is no way to rewind the livestream.  

What is the best way to view this livestream performance?  

You can stream the event from your mobile device, tablet, desktop computer or laptop. 

What is the best way to listen to this livestream performance?  

We recommend using headphones or a good quality external speaker for this performance.  These are not necessary though to have adequate sound. The speakers on your device will work.

I can’t hear anything!

Check your volume control and make sure nothing is muted. You could also try playing something from a different website to make sure it’s all working. Often a reboot can help.

Will my camera be on or will I be seen during the performance of Macbeth Muet? 

The audience members will not be seen nor will they have the option to have their camera on. 

If I refresh my screen for this event, do I have to log in again?

No. As long as you’ve entered your code and you are logged in you can refresh the page. If you get “thrown out” just log back in with the code you’ve received.

Each livestream of Macbeth Muet is coming to you live and is meant to be a unique experience for the people tuned in at that moment. It is an ephemeral online experience for that gathered community.

Like the original Macbeth by Shakespeare, Macbeth Muet contains scenes of sex and violence. It is intended for people over the age of 14.  Viewer discretion is advised.

Is the performance actually live or recorded? 

The performance will be coming to you completely live.
