To hounour the 40th Anniversary of Pi Theatre and the 50th anniversary of Théâtre la Seizième, the companies are coming together to produce a staged reading of Polygraph / Le Polygraphe on January 24 and January 25 at Studio 16.

The Saturday afternoon reading will be followed by an anniversary PARTY that night! Please join us for the party regardless of when (or even if) you see the show. Although, the show will be fabulous.

In case you're not familiar with the piece:

"It's the heart of summer 1986 in Quebec. The police are tracking down a suspect wanted in the rape and murder of a young university student. A relative of the victim, the last person to see her alive, is under suspicion. To help with the case, he's subjected to a lie detector test, “the Polygraph”.

While people struggle to solve the case, a film team is making a movie about the murder. Polygraph has the makings of a detective thriller, while plunging us into a philosophical labyrinth, an deadly game of mirrors, where true and false blur and reality itself goes on trial."

The choice to do a staged reading of Polygraph / Le Polygraphe with Seizième pays tribute to the history of collaboration between Pi (Pink Ink Theatre back in the Polygraph days) and Seizième with whom Pi most recently partnered to present Malaise dans la Civilization, produced by Étienne Lepage.

As a significant part of its four decade history, Pi was instrumental in introducing Quebec and Franco-Canadian dramaturgy, in English, to the Vancouver public. 1992's production of Le Polygraphe marked the first time that Robert Lepage allowed one of his shows to be produced outside his own company.

Our staged reading will be in French and English with surtitles.
